SIMCHECK II Power Supplies
- Q. If necessary, can I replace
the RAMCHECK or SIMCHECK II power supply with one that we have in house, or
with one acquired locally?
A. We strongly recommend that replacement
power supplies be acquired from us, as we do fine tuning of lower voltage to
reduce the heat that is dissipated inside the memory tester. However, if you
have technical knowledge of power supplies, you may replace it with a new one,
only if it is polarized in the same manner as the original Power Supply (center
positive) AND it meets the output rating for CURRENT and VOLTAGE. For RAMCHECK
the power supply's voltage must NOT exceed 6.75-6.90V at actual current of
4Amp. We use a 7.25V/4.4A power supply which is carefully adjusted for 6.85V at
4Amp. For SIMCHECK II, the voltage must not exceed 7.5V at 3Amp.
- Q. Can the old SIMCHECK
power supply be used with SIMCHECK II?
A. NO. The polarity of the
SIMCHECK II power source is reversed compared to the SIMCHECK PLUS, therefore
only use the power supply that your SIMCHECK II is packaged with. A special
diode protects SIMCHECK II if a wrong power supply is used.
- Q. Can the RAMCHECK power
supply be used with SIMCHECK II and vice versa?
A. NO. RAMCHECK
requires slightly lower voltage, as detailed above, in order to reduce the heat
inside the unit. During factory upgrade from SIMCHECK II to RAMCHECK, our
technicians carefully adjust the original power supply for RAMCHECK levels, or
completely replace it.
